Half of Empire Divided’s factions are ‘heroic’, getting their own unique victory conditions, bespoke event chains and special leaders who can’t die in battle. The scope is considerably larger than previous expansions, with ten factions - including the three Roman states - and a whole host of mechanics that aren’t strictly new for the series, though they are for Rome. It’s pretty fertile ground for a Total War game. It was the most popular Total War game before Creative Assembly started dabbling in fantasy, however, so the audience is quite a bit larger than, say, Attila’s, which I suspect explains why it’s seeing this resurrection.Įmpire Divided’s campaign takes place during the Crisis of the Third Century, which saw the Roman Empire almost destroyed by wars, plague and its separation into competing Roman states. It’s four years old, not even the latest historical entry, and in terms of both the presentation and the real-time battles, it’s a step backwards from Warhammer 2. Rome 2 is probably not the best showcase of the future of Total War’s historical games. So where does that leave Total War: Rome 2 - Empire Divided? Total War’s historical games will undoubtedly continue to appeal to those craving a more grounded strategy romp, but so many of the series’ most significant improvements are inextricably linked to a fantasy premise. It was a rerelease and they never set out to trick anyone with it (though possibly could have worded the description a little better. How can a historical Total War compete with dinosaurs besieging a fortress filled with wraiths and shambling corpses? Ever since the launch of Total War: Warhammer, but even more since the arrival of Warhammer 2, I’ve been wondering if Creative Assembly has backed itself into a corner.

Emperor Edition may be "no more" than the free DLC, patches, and Imperator Augustus campaign, but that's still a heck of a lot of content. Only you can really decide whether to buy, and only you will know if you enjoy it.

SHOULD I BUY ROME TOTAL WAR 2 FULL
I think it's well worth 17 Euros to me (I paid full price or near full price for it all.) But that's just me. Still have factions I haven't played yet, still keep returning to the game. It's my most played game on Steam by far, and my most played Total War game (having played since Medieval 1 came out) and I've had a lot of fun with it. I own every DLC (except Blood & Gore which really doesn't interest me) and don't regret buying any of them.
SHOULD I BUY ROME TOTAL WAR 2 MODS
I only started using mods when I was approaching the 1,000 hour mark and felt like mixing things up again. Will tell you I've played over 1,000 hours of this game, 99% of the time without any mods.

Won't tell you whether you should buy or not, as it's really up to you. As the title suggests i am planning to buy Rome 2.After 3 years of development and now with the Emperor Edition (Which is no more than all free dlc, patches added with a campaign pack ,yeah i am not falling for that name),i am planning to buy it.Yet still in my mind comes the question should does this game worth it?Keep in mind i wont be spending 60 euros but instead will buy the Spartan edition at a retailer which costs a mere 17 euros so money is out of the question.Īre battles in Rome 2 satisfactory?Do they feel like an organised brutal chaos like most battles ?Does the campaign feel as good as Rome 1?Will i get bored after a few hours into the game due to the campaign map?Is this game even with mods satisfactory in single player campaign and battles?I know it has good potential but is this game fixed now?Is it being still updated?Should i keep my hopes up?Overall at launch it was a disappointment but i am really into this era and want a game that can really make me feel like i am in it ,you know have a connection like Rome 1.I want your opinions if it is worth as game to have (still money is not the problem)
